Alpacas!

Today, Mesquite Valley Alpacas (no website but partnered with Alpacazona Farm) had an open house. Only three miles west of me, I couldn't resist. My brother's fiancee and two of my kids came along, and we had a great time.

This was the first one to greet us.

This one was content to stay as far away from the crowd as possible.

The black alpaca is GORGEOUS!

My brother's fiancee got stuck holding a feed bucket and was swarmed.

The swarm was too much for my 5yo, as she was only half the height of most of the alpacas, so we went to feed some cereal to the goats.

This alpaca was more interested in my camera than the feed.

Beautiful coloration one this one.

The cinnamon color was another of my favorites.

This little guy was only three days old!

And this cutie obligingly turned and posed for me.

On display were knitted and woven items, unwashed fleece, roving both natural and dyed, silk fiber for blending, some cute stuffed toys. There were also spinning and carding demonstrations.

Of course, I bought some roving, a cinnamon alpaca and some camel/tussah. Hopefully my spindles will make something worthy of the fiber.

The crowd was beginning to build just as we left. I only had an hour to spend there but wish I had had more!
